Basic information on the Menu Foods Dog and Cat Pet Food Recall

On Saturday March 17th, Menu Foods announced that it was going to recall it's dog and cat foods sold under various brands.

The Ontario-based Menu Foods has recalled 60 million containers of Cuts and Gravy products from shelves at Walmart, Safeway and Kroger stores. Note: Only 'Cuts and Gravy' food sold in cans and pouches are recalled.

Pet owners are being urged to throw out all their dog and cat food products. It is important to look for any signs of kidney problems in your pet such as vomiting or excess thirst. Some other warning signs include loss of appetite and lethargy. Consult your veteranarian if any of these problems arrise.

Update: more than 60 million cans of bad dog and cat food have now been recalled. Reports of dry food causing illness in pets are now surfacing, however Menu Foods claims the recall affects only cuts and wet food that "have code dates 6339 through 7073 followed by a plant code of 4197"
